Efficiency Gains
Each year every Council in Wales is required to set specific annual targets for making efficiency gains. The reason for this is the national drive to deliver £600 million efficiency gains a year across the Welsh public service by 2010. However it must be noted that Improving efficiency is not about cuts; it is about finding new ways of providing services.
Efficiency gains that we plan and report must consist of genuine and sustainable changes to business practices which either yield cash savings or allow more or better services to be provided for the same resource input.
