Gwent Wildlife Trust
Gwent Wildlife Trust has about 6000 members, 1000 of these in Torfaen. It manages 30 nature reserves, 3 in Torfaen.
These are Henllys Bog south of Cwmbran, Coed Meyric Moel in Cwmbran and Branches Fork Meadow on the edge of Pontypool.
The Trust campaigns on environment issues. It played a leading role in preventing opencast coal mining at Pwll Du, Blaenafon in 1991.
More recently it pressed for the needs of wildlife at the South Sebastopol and The British development areas.
Each area in Gwent has a Gwent Wildlife Trust local group which organises talks, field trips etc.
