Set up to help preserve the wildlife and their habitat. It has about 6000 members, 1000 of these in Torfaen and manages 30 nature reserves, 3 in Torfaen.

Gwent Wildlife Trust has about 6000 members, 1000 of these in Torfaen.  It manages 30 nature reserves, 3 in Torfaen.

The Trust campaigns on environment issues.  It played a leading role in preventing opencast coal mining at Pwll Du, Blaenafon in 1991.

 

More recently it pressed for the needs of wildlife at the South Sebastopol and The British development areas.

 

Each area in Gwent has a Gwent Wildlife Trust local group which organises talks, field trips etc.
